Dr. Paul Sniegowski
Past College Dean (2017-2024)

Dr. Sniegowski has served as the Dean of the College from 2017 to 2024. During his leadership, he has been a vital resource for DAB members, providing them with a gateway to administration, from which students have the ability to enact meaningful change for College students.

 

Dr. Sniegowski has been a member of the Penn faculty for 27 years, and oversaw the College’s transition to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. During his deanship, Dr. Sniegowski created the First-Generation, Low-Income Dean's Advisory Board and oversaw the creation of the environmental humanities and data science minors, according to the announcement. 

Today, Dr. Sniegowski continues his excellent leadership as the President of Earlham College. We wish him the best of luck in this position and thank him graciously for his service at Penn!

Dr. Peter Struck
The College Dean

As Dean of the College, Dr. Struck has responsibility for undergraduate curricula, programs and students in all departments and nondepartmental programs in Penn Arts & Sciences. He directs the College office and works with other leadership within Penn on planning and priorities for undergraduate education in the arts and sciences.

Previous to his appointment as Dean, Dr. Struck chaired the Department of Classical Studies from 2016 to 2022, focusing on Greek and Roman history of ideas, philosophy, and myth. In addition, from 2009 to 2023, Dr. Struck directed the Benjamin Franklin Scholars (BFS) Program, developing the Integrated Studies curriculum and transforming BFS into a residential program. As a Professor of Classical Studies, his teaching has earned him the Lindback Award, the SAS Dean's Award for Innovation, and the CGS Distinguished Teaching Award, and his monographs, Birth of the Symbol and Divination and Human Nature, won the Charles J. Goodwin Award of Merit.
